I killed her... I feel awful

WHile opening the lid to my outside brooder with my Marans in it I had an accident.

The chick are big enough they can fly pretty well. Well they can semi fly to the top of the brooder which is about 3 ft high. While opening the lid one of my blue splash hens few up and smacked me in the chest. It scared the heck out of my and I dropped the lid crushing her.

I cried like a baby and feel awful.

I am sooooo sorry. I nearly did the same thing the first time I used my brooder. I ended up making a door that opens in the front.

I dropped my brooder on a chick once, unfortunately it didn't quite kill her and I had to finish the job. Don't beat yourself up, stuff happens.
