This is the runt offspring of my Ameracauna rooster and Ameracauna hens. It's 7 months old but still 2/3 the size of all its hatchmates. The boys have great hackles and saddle feathers, and are readily identified as young gents. The pullets are all clearly pullets.

What is this? The hackles are kinda there but no saddle feathers to speak of, and the comb looks like the pullets combs. Also, its neck is somewhat shorter than normal, and the legs go up for days compared to the pullets.

Pics of the brothers attached.

I say pullet, but she has severely stunted growth.

She looks uncomfortable.

I think it's a stunted pullet.

Is it wet?

She looks uncomfortable but doesn't act it. She hangs with the flock, doesn't get bullied, chases grasshoppers, scratches up bugs, etc. Her neck is short and her legs are long, and she croaks and honks like a tiny goose instead of making chicken noises. She's also very friendly and wants to be scratched and picked up.

Yes. I assume it is because of her stunted growth. Very interesting. I do wonder if she will come to laying standard sized eggs.

Do you keep her with the males? With the females? By herself?
She's in the main flock of 40-ish hens and pullets, plus two roosters. The pic of the roosters is my bachelor pen, aka "on deck" for their up at the plate (my son plays baseball).

I've got a pullet similar to that. Shea healthy as any other one, but small and always looks like she's feeling bad, even though she's not. Are her parents closely related? Mine I think is just too inbred to be a good looking bird unfortunately
