I know first eggs are suposed to be small but this takes the cake!!!

If you candle these very small eggs, you may find that they contain small or no yolks. Even if they do, they may not be fertile. All breeders and hatchers discard these eggs due to the fact that small, irregular sized eggs usually do not hatch. These eggs are also referred to as pullet eggs and will not hatch. Wait until the hen matures a bit and lays normal sized eggs before trying to incubate them. Even though they are cute, you will have a better hatch with better eggs.

I didn't figure I'd try to hatch it. Guess what threw me off is the hens that it could of came from have been laying normal eggs for a few weeks now..

I got my 1 and only the 3rd day of when my girls started laying, I had not yet joined BYC so I had no idea what it was or how it happened. At first I thought it was the bantams egg

until she laid her first the next day then I sort of knew it was an opps egg.

When you say "keep" do you mean keep them as keepsakes like blow the insides out etc.?? Just curious. Cause I got a really cute little egg in my fridge that would be fun to save.

I believe thats what she means. I did that with 2 of mine as well. You can also do that with normal eggs and decorate them, it's actually a big hobby now.

Yep I got this one from a new laying NHR last week.
