I know I’m probably going to upset some ppl, but I’m genuinely confused..

. But I have a hard time with just plain ol laziness and neglect. It’s my opinion (and I’ll die on this hill) if a person doesn’t have time to check on their chickens at least once a day, they shouldn’t have them.
Good gracious. I grew up on a farm and know plenty of people who see chickens as livestock, not pets. I check mine a couple times a day because they are still quite young, but I definitely plan to take vacations and have my run set up with a big waterer and feeder so they can be okay on their own. If I am ever able to move toward having survival chickens, I will not even be able to check them that closely. There is a wide range of opinions on how to keep livestock, and I’m wary of someone taking such a harsh stance on anyone who doesn’t precisely align with their way of doing it. I think there is room here for us all.

@Not-so Slick Chicken don't be taking the high road, and calming ppl down! How dare you be a peace keeper!!
Not particularly.
I think certain actions should be called out.
But there are very manipulative people who learn how to push things in their favor.

I've run into people like that.
They always insist they're right, start a fight, twist what really happened, and get defended (by people who don't know what really happened, or who are just like "oh, well. Everybody has their own opinion")

I imagine anybody who sees the issues these types of people cause could use a break from them.

Those types of people make me emotionally and physically ill.

Edit to fix typo

Back to coop security:

Ours had a weenie latch on the door so I had hubby install another weenie latch on each door. Then I read somewhere (here) that raccoons can undo weenie latches so I had him install better latches. With carabiners through them all, just in case. He asked if I wanted him to install an eye scan reader on the door too, but I think the raccoons know how to use those too.

He mocks me when it takes me 27 minutes to break into my own coop, last weekend he hummed the Get Smart theme while I was at it….

That’s funny. But what in the world is a weenie latch?
