Mowing the lawn today and when we were picking up any trash etc., we found a fork.

We have buckets to save kitchen washing water to water the plants (cuts down on the bills) and frequently find spoons under the trees that we have accidentally dropped into the buckets.

I figure my animals have been drinking it their whole lives and they are still kicking...so why not?! Well that and I have been drinking from the hose since I was little and Im fine

Only when it's COLD... says 70's... drinking out of an 80 or 90 degree hose on a 100 degree day just doesn't do much for me.

If you take certain types hoses purchased new, fill them with water, let them set in the hot sun for a day, then test the water, they can contain levels of lead higher than is recommended safe. Lead is especially dangerous for young children. I'll not joke about that. Lead is dangerous to young kids. And mold or mildew can grow in wet hoses, though the big warning on all the sites is for lead.

I'm over six years old and my hoses are not new. Tiny animals sometimes build nests in my hoses so I generally flush them out before I use them, especially if I am going to put a fitting on them. Is there a risk from drinking out of hoses? Yes, there is. Is there a risk from tracking mud or dirt into my wife's kitchen to get a drink of water? Yes, there is. Is there a risk of dehydration from not drinking enough water on a hot day? I've had heat exhaustion. There is absolutely a risk from not drinking enough water. Choose your risk.
