My DBF's dad brought us a new baby today. He found it down by his lake with no mother in sight . . . he watched it for a while and no momma showed up. So he brought it to us . . . DBF emailed me at work to tell me we had a baby duck . . . I got home just a few minutes ago to find this little cutie . . .

Personally, I think we have a LOONling here, but I am open to being proven wrong . . . I'm actually HOPING to hear otherwise, as I haven't the first clue as to caring for a loon!

Definitely NOT a goose . . . You can't see it in the pics, but he's shaped funny, too. His body is tiny in proportion to his head (kinda like my 20 month old son).

MAN! I was having a hard enough time trying to figure out how to take care of a duck . . . but a LOON?!

I don't think it's a loon if you type in on Google images the loon chicks don't have white on their faces, and their eyes are red just like the adults. Looks like it has a ducks bill to me. Sorry can't help with what it is just thought I'd tell you it doesn't look like a loon

I definitely agree with you on the bill - he's a duck for sure. Looks nothing like those google loon chicks. She's a diver . . . I really wish they had more pictures of duck chicks on the internet!
