I know it probably gets discussed a lot...but I need some support :-)

The moment they start laying you will forget how long it took them to start. I think the sex links and the high production stuff are some of the few that lay real early. My buffs took quite a while and nothing took as long as my heritage RIR, they just started at 34 weeks.


Stop looking for eggs is the surest way to get them to start
 
Sigh..we have 4 Barred Rocks....3 started laying between 22 and 25 weeks....we have one that is not laying yet...she's about 33 weeks IIRC........her legs are still quite yellow and her comb and wattles are small. She does not do the "squat" at all.

Oh well, we get 2 -3 eggs a day, so we're happy with that, and our girls are "pets"; each with a name, and they live in an "aviary" not a coop (since we're in a subdivision, we have to use careful "wording"...LOL).

And Mimi, who is not yet laying will die of old age before she is EVER considered an addition to dumplings....
