This is a 4 week Lavender Orpington with a 3 week old Black Orpington. I am positive the Black is a pullet, she was the only one hatched out of 42 eggs, survived a broken incubator, faulty thermometers and nearly drowned the day she hatched. She climbed into the cup of water used for humidity. I still don't know how she did that, but next time the water will have a lid and holes. Only a pullet could survive those conditions. I bought this Lavender Orp off of Craigslist to keep her company, What gender do you think He/she is? Thank you!

P.S. I was suspicious of one of my 3 month old Easter Eggers, I thought she was a roo, but I got my answer today when sitting in the hen house observing the chickens, it was raining so they were hanging around inside even though the run is covered. I was sitting in there on the floor (with a clean board under my bottom), I couldn't move because a 6 week old Speckled sussex climbed up and curled her cute little self up against me and fell asleep. While sitting there enjoying my little darling, my daughters polish started crowing!!! Proof positive of a roo, I could never catch the crower in action before today. It was the most pathetic crow ever. I had been calling him "Phyllis", but my daughter called him "Leonard" , I guess she was right!!

Yes, it was my fear, that he is a roo. However: I have a Lavender Rooster whom I did not raise, he is beautiful, but he is a Butthead! If this one is nicer, I may replace my other one. I hope he is as beautiful as my butthead though.
