Found our very first 2 eggs today! One in a nesting box and one in the run (??). We have 8 girls, but they are all only 17 1/2 weeks. Didn't expect any for another few weeks. Was VERY surprised. My 10 year old was hysteric with excitement! She asked for first dibs on eating the first eggs. She says they are the perfect size for her. At 10 1/2 she's only 53lbs and 51"...a peanut....these first 2 eggs are pygmy size and made especially for her. So she shall have the honors tomorrow morning 41335350_10216668383132553_2160585385606905856_n.jpg 41341819_10216668382812545_9145461261385859072_n.jpg .

Lovely post! Hope that young lady enjoys herself .

So, I know typically it will be hard to tell who's laying what, but based on the fact that we have a Barred, Brahma, Orpinton, Wyandotte, Cochin, Bantam Barred - who all are listed as laying brown eggs and a silkie and Polish who lay white and cream, can I assume these came from my 2 little bantam girls? or does color mature with laying as well?
