Hi everyone. I have a batch of eggs at day 20. Four or five of the 20 have just started to pip. However one pipped early and was very fast to zip. Consequently its up and about and incredibly unhappy about being the only one. I know they tend to move around and knock other eggs but I've never had one that screams and barrels relentlessly through the other eggs to this degree. It's been going on for an hour and there's eggs flying all over the place. Do you think this will affect the other chicks chances of successfully hatching? Should I risk opening the bator to remove it?

I agree with all the above posts, if the humidity does drop you can place a damp sponge in the bator.

Tell us how it goes!

Thanks for all the advice. I had my son help me remove the naughty chick so we were in and out really fast, humidity only dropped six percent and went straight back up. We put it in the brooder with a soft blanket toy and it was fine. The others that had pipped all ended up hatching just fine. We ended up with 10 babies out of 14, but I wasn't sure from the start if all the eggs were viable as they were the dark maran brown and olive egger green shells and I couldn't candle. So I'm really happy. Thanks again! :)
