"I recently spoke on the phone to a customer service rep for the brand of pine bedding I use. He assured me that any information about cedar being toxic for chickens was a fallacy, most likely created on the internet. He extolled the natural bug fighting abilities of cedar bedding, and suggested to disregard any information that cedar bedding is toxic for chickens."
Thanks for posting this,.. I have never before said anything,. didn't want to ruffle feathers ,. but we personally have never seen a problem with it,. maybe it has caused problems for some,.I don't know,. but cedar has always been used at our place and it been wonderful for pest control and smell! I don't know everything though,. I suppose that it could be overwhelming in a poorly ventilated coop,.. sure would like to see some scientific proof that it's bad for chickens.
I will continue to use it and the essential oil for all sorts of things,.. including pest control,.. in our home.
