I let my keets out in the run today - Pics

I locked the adult guineas and the chickens out of the run today and let my keets and their silkie moms out to play in the run. The guineas and chickens lined up along the outside and watched and pecked at the chainlink and all tried to con me into opening the gates to let them back in so they could investigate.

I will say they are much calmer then my keets who were raised by the guinea hen. They still run and are flighty but not nearly as much as my other keets were. The black silkie is extremely protective and charges at the pen wall whenever any of the others get to close to the pen.

Oh she is just trying to be good momma that is exactly why I got Silkies in the first place to be great broodies for my other breeds of birds

LOL @ Siamese twin silkies. The silkies are hatch mates both hatched out on Christmas day. It was amazing watching them set on the eggs, stealing them from each other, and then taking turns going out to eat, drink, and take dust baths. They are definitely co-parenting the keets. The black silkie is much more assertive then the other one, so much so that I swore it was a roo until she laid an egg, lol.

It is amazing watching them with the keets. They even beak feed the keets which I never saw happen with the guinea hen.​
