i let my wife come with me

Yeah, all feed stores here get chicks the last week of april through the last week of May. A 4 week chick buying window... unless you drive out to the country... then you have 6 weeks of a window...

Maybe the colder areas need to get them raised up before winter. But the more southern feed stores do this stuff all year round. My first ever insentive to move south........just kidding!!!!!

All the ones around me have stopped getting them all together because of a fear of bird flu. Really stinks.

I live in central Mississippi and called the feed stores and Co-ops in the area this week and receive the same 'we only have them in the spring'. I ended up ordering some from a hatchery in Texas.

Those are cute ones that you picked up! Mine won't arrive until the first week of September, around the 7th.

I have about a 1.5 acre pond with a small island in one corner of it and have always wanted some ducks. Would those muscovies do well on the island or do they need feed and lots of attention?

my buddy has a pond with an island and his muscovies do fine on it. he doesnt feed his ducks but maybe once a week. they forage for food. i feed mine often but they're always eating something. GREAT FOR MOSQUITOS TOO

I have a feeling it wasnt the wifes doing , getting ALL these little critters

Our feed stores have chicks right ow also.
I think muscovies are great and should do well, but all domesticbirds do better with feed, I would think. Mine have been freeranging most of the summer but still like to come back to the pen and eat.

My coop or feed stores doesnt have babies at all.. ever!! If we get babies here we have to order them or find someone that has some for sale..
I bought my daugther a muscovy last year and this year she has proved to be as good as a second incubator..
