The days are getting longer and the roo is growing up. He's about 5 months old and gorgeous.
I'm not preventing Kazoo from mating in front of me, I'm not carrying a stick, but if he's in my way he moves. So far he has no interest in me except food.

My NNs and the blue girls are getting pink combs and wattles but Kazoo chased them off food so now he has to work extra hard to sweet talk them

My rooster can have his mean moments but he knows I'm boss for the most part and he'll let me pick him up, pet him, kiss him, whatever...I didn't say he likes it, but...XD Every night when he's asleep I take him off the roost for a minute and give him a hug. He's learned to get used to it. I love my roo!

@igorsMistress I just read through this whole thread and I don't even have a rooster. Did Kazoo work out?

I had a white bantam D'uccle rooster, he was the sweetest thing until he his maturity, then he thought he could boss me around. lucky he was small and could only reach my calves and I barely felt it, it was just him bouncing off me,
However I gave him to a good home as I did not want to deal with that.

now with that said. My neighbor had a rooster who she had issues with, she gave it to our other neighbor and she loves him and has no issues. she has like 15 chickens and roos and they have all come over to visit and I never had a problem with the roo either.

I think roos just get used to you too much and think of you as one of his ladies and tries to boss you around

Oh geez I'm sorry, this thread slipped past me for a while. No, he was very noisy and I work at home, plus he was rough on the girls. My sweet little Nugget would hide in the coop all day from him.

I have a new roo though, a white NN with throaty crow. He's just starting to mate but isn't wild with lust yet.
