Im gonna say stray dog or fox.........Sorry for your loss. i cant imagine what it would be like.......i have eggs due on the 28th. i can only keep 3 so when 1 dies i willl be heart broken

Thanks everyone! I just spent $100 to fix up and dog proof my coop and to make it a little larger. Im using a really well mad dog pen as the bulk of the coop but Im opening 1 end and adding a high rise coop to allow the chickens access up high and completely enclosed all the way around except on the inside side of the coop....pics will explain better tomorrow...and we are doing a double barrier. Its gonna be like Fort Knox!! lol. I had the farrier out today for my horses so havent had a chance to make all the changes I want to to the coop but we are doing the best we can to dog proof the current coop and will have everyone inside tonight and hopefully "its" deterred. I dont think its possible for the "dog" to get into the actual coop itself and Ive got bricks surrounding the bottom...I hope it works out...man Im so tempted to just bring the 4 I have left inside the house!! I wish I had a place to....but my spare bathroom is taken up by the new chicks!! Oooops did I say that out loud!?? haha....pics to come!

dogs are a real pain in the butt. They are the worst predator there is. Use a game cam as the offender has probably been back but can't get into your pen. They will try again as often as they can to try and get your birds. They don't give up!!!

Alright well, we have evidence of 2 dogs...a black lab and a stray beagle and now we have a unneutered stray male cat that is hanging around the area of my coop!! He has been marking my yard and he is the only animal that we have actually seen in our yard. And Hubby said he remembers seeing him the morning that we lost our last hen when he left for work...Im begining to wonder if he wasnt the culprit...
