I lost a Dominique hen to a fox yesterday

we have a fox that lives right down the road from us. I'm planning on having my pit out whenever the chickens are in the yard. My pit is terrified of the chicks, lol, but goes nuts every time she sees that fox. I'm sure she'd attack it if the thing came into the yard.

Thanks very much for all the posts about the electric poultry netting...I think it's what I'll choose to do as soon as I can get the bucks together. In the meantime, my solitary chicken left after the fox attack couldn't be less interested in going outside. Here wounds are almost healed, though, and I'm sure she'll be ready to go out soon. Plus I have 6 new chicks that are about 7 weeks old...that I don't intend to keep inside forever! Anyway, thanks again for all your posts!
