I had a pair of ducklings who were hatched from eggs bought from a store. I was told they were of Vietnamese ducklings, but I am not really sure what breed they were. I would figure they were Pekingnese. The ducks were very lovely pets but one of them died suddenly last week, and today the other died while I was carrying it.

I was wondering if it could be the problem with incubation or is it the dreaded duck hepatitis. The symptoms of the duck that died today was; laying on his back, paralysis of feet, his neck was moving from side to side and its poop was white. It was not able to stand properly, I thought it needed to swim as it acts up sometimes when he needs a swim. He was not able to balance himself in the pool either and was slanting his neck to the left and right. I knew he was no right, so I took him out of the pool and put him on the ground, that is when some bubbles were coming out from underneath his beak and in a few moments of struggling, it died with its eyes opened. I'm really saddened by this. I hope I could be enlightened by the death of my ducklings, to not have the same happen to my chickens.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have no experience with ducks to give you any feedback as to what may have happened, but I'm just so very, very sorry. It must have been awful.

Could they have ingested something poisionous? I have no idea but just a thought. I hope someone can help. So sorry for your loss :(
