I had a pair of ducklings who were hatched from eggs bought from a store. I was told they were of Vietnamese ducklings, but I am not really sure what breed they were. I would figure they were Pekingnese. The ducks were very lovely pets but one of them died suddenly last week, and today the other died while I was carrying it.
I was wondering if it could be the problem with incubation or is it the dreaded duck hepatitis. The symptoms of the duck that died today was; laying on his back, paralysis of feet, his neck was moving from side to side and its poop was white. It was not able to stand properly, I thought it needed to swim as it acts up sometimes when he needs a swim. He was not able to balance himself in the pool either and was slanting his neck to the left and right. I knew he was no right, so I took him out of the pool and put him on the ground, that is when some bubbles were coming out from underneath his beak and in a few moments of struggling, it died with its eyes opened. I'm really saddened by this. I hope I could be enlightened by the death of my ducklings, to not have the same happen to my chickens.
