I Lost my girls today :*(

Our two dogs busted through a fence and the wired run and murdered my three 5 week old Plymoth Rock girls. I found their little bodies strewn across the backyard, all chewed up. I am so heartbroken. And so sad that they suffered. They must have been so scared, trying to escape.
I am so so so sad, angry and heartbroken.

We have a bull mastiff and he's scared of our RIR girls, we also have a cat and she's not afraid of the girls. So, so sorry for your loss x

Sorry for your lost. Take the opportunity to fortify the coop and run with hardware cloth.

Oh thats so sad! I had same thing done to my 8 week old hens. My cat murdered two of them and broke a wing of the third! I feel your pain. Take care.

So cats do kill? I kind of trust my own. But worried about the neighbouring cats x

That's so sad! I would be angry and heartsick too. In time I hope you get more chicks, but the question is....what will you do with the dogs? Was this their first encounter with them?

They CAN be trained to leave the chicks alone, but a lot depends upon your set-up, their age, prey drive, level of obedience, etc.

Novastar, I'm sorry this happened to them. Take a breather, deal with the dogs, fortify the run, and then try again.

What makes me so sad is that they were so innocent, young and sweet....and they suffered.
