I love this rooster

I have never had a rooster before, but someone in the neighborhood needed to get rid of a little family, hen rooster and 7 chicks ask bantam, so now I have a little rooster. They haven’t figured out to go in the coop yet, preferring a rung in the enclosed yard, but look at how he covers the chicks with his wings!! Is this normal rooster behavior? The only two not covered I suspect are male judging by their already red combs

They are really cute babies, not an expert on breeds, your big roo's marking remind me of my speckle sussex roo.. the SS are very sweet natured

I agree, you have two cockerels with the red combs. Looks like a keeper for the big rooster - make a plan now, for the babies. If you keep that many cockerels and roosters in a small set up, the flock is very apt to be miserable. Have a plan.

I agree with Mrs. K. Bantams are easier to sex while young and it looks like you have at least 2 cockerels in the mix.
