I lovemy little flock!

It is sad part of being a chicken mom....you will over time lose some chickens. I am saddened with each loss but I still love raising chickens so I try to learn from each loss and know better to prevent losing one of the girls from the same loss twice. The hardest losses are the ones you have no idea what caused it. I found a broody austrolope in the nest box and when I went to check on her the next day she had passed away. I thought.....she was just broody....I have no idea what caused her to go. I just buried her and I will miss her as she was much loved. I cannot replace her but I have pictures of her and I will remember what a lovely curious chicken she was. I have six new sweeties in the run now ....two are cream leg bars and three are birchen marans and I have a basque and I am looking forward to learning to know them better in continue my education in chicken keeping. Hugs to you I am sorry for your loss - I do love the orpingtons too!

Thank you for that, it mkade me feel a little better, its kind of hard because I feel like I should have checked the coop better and it was sensless but it served as a learning experience

Went out this morning to snap some pictures of my crew ( didnt have time to go in run with them) so I got some pictures from outside the fence, they areeee getting sooo big!! And quite frankley thank you ideal for my little packing peanuts, they have turned out to be the faveorites as far as personality, my little guy Teak-o cannot stand for me to hold another chicken and when I do he allways perches between me and them on my arm ( hes gotten over pushing them off) ITS so sweet especially when he looks at you with that certain little chicken afeection look and peeps :)
Red posing for the camera, Teak-o being camera shy today in the bottom left hand corner :)

They allways greet me when i come to the coop with various noises, some still peep, some sound like they have his puberty and their voice is changing :)

How cute!!! I have Americauna chicks, and they're about 7-8 weeks old right now. One of them is black. CUTENESS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adorable! Mine were just kinda thrown in to keep my shipment warm and I am so glad they did! Best chickenalitys ever! I love all of them soo much! Cant wait for them to try out crowing for the first time! I actually love to hear a rooster crow, reminds me of being a kid! And luckily it reminds my fiancee of when he lived in the carribean ( props for me!!)
