UPDATE:

After a lengthy discussion with family we're going to hatch the chicks. I am ashamed I even considered pulling the plug on them. Thank you my BYC family for reminding me that I have chickens because I LOVE chickens not for any other reason.

Update :
Seller replied they were unable to get good photos of the birds they own but swears the photos they borrowed resemble the parents of the eggs they sent. I will post photos here after the hatch. I believe it's 4-6-17.

This is what happened. I bought eggs from someone who I assumed was a breeder, only to find out the photos of the breeder birds are birds that were gleened off various sites on the internet . The REAL kicker is, of the 14 eggs I was sent 13 have embryos and I'm at day 8. I was shocked at candling that many took! So I looked online at photos of what my chicks might look like. That's when I discovered that the photos belonged to other people.
My question is should I continue with the hatch? I paid decent money for pure breed chicks and I'm torn about what to do. Do I hatch the eggs and rehome the chicks if I can find homes , selling them at a fraction of what I paid? (Yes! stupid me, I paid $12 a egg for 12 plus I got 2 free) Or be forced to give them away for free If as I suspect they'll be sub standard and or mixes. I already have plenty of mixed chicks and chickens. No one wants to buy mixed birds other than sex links. These were going to be the start of my Serama flock. So what to do? Do I turn off the incubator? Chalk up the whole situation as a horrible decision on my part, the money lost and a lesson learned?
I can't help thinking of all those little heart beats. Is it better to end them now? Sigh. :(

I Contacted the seller to explain about the photos, some are 6-7 years old from show birds from across the sea. How they can be their breeders? I'm still awaiting a response.

I can't fault people for trying to make some money especially these days. Just because they had a facebook page doesn't necessarily make them legit. I should have known that. I do know this is my fault for not taking more time to ask a lot more questions! I will offer a word of caution on doing any kind of business on facebook, eBay or Craigslist ect do your research, research and more research before you invest hard earned money in hatching eggs!

Thank you all for being a sounding board. This has caused quite a bit of stress here at home. Some folks don't understand the love of chickens. I'd keep them all if I could afford the feed.

~God Bless ~

Finnish the hatch sell the chicks or give them to some little kids for Easter. Either way you will feel better than if you terminate them.

Thank you for the advice. I don't want to terminate , this is so hard! Yet it would be easier to walk away from a egg than dispatch a chick. So very upset over this whole thing! Than again I would be feeding the Seramas anyway.

Keep the hatch going. You don't know what the breed is unless you looked at the parents it is possible they are pure seramas or that they are mixed. Don't kill little chicks that never did anything I'm sure you'll be able to sell them even if you lose a little money.

Just because the seller used someone else's pics doesn't mean they won't be good quality birds. even if those were his pics and the birds in the pics were the parents of your chics. Doesn't mean your chicks would be show quality.

I agree. I also have to admit that I am appalled that terminating the eggs is in consideration just because they may not be the expected quality or as advertised. Giving them away is loosing no more money than pulling the plug on lives that you started. You have a responsibility to those chicks. There are plenty of backyard chicken keepers that have chickens solely for eggs and don't care if they are pures. 3/4 of my standard flock are mixes and they are awesome layers. Let them hatch, don't give them a death sentence.

Thank you for being candid. I appreciate it and I did take your comments to heart. I'm going to hatch the chicks and I will post them here for you all to see.
