I made a horrible judgment call! Do I continue the Hatch?

Just saw this and thought I'd let you know a little trick I learned... In Chrome you can hold your mouse over a picture and press the right key, then click on "search Google for this image". Plenty of people on craigslist and ebay don't use their own photos, and this is a great way to check. Try it on this picture:

oh PLEASE...keep the hatch going...you might be surprised with what you get!!!  doent give up on them...someoone will take them if you dont want them   I would take them!!!   thanks1 for keeping the hatch going!!!

They are still zipping . I'm not killing anything. I didn't kill any of them. I didn't throw them away! I was lied to about the breed and asked for advice. Someone messaged me and told me they would unplug the incubator. This disturbed me so I only asked you people for advice wither or not I should.
Think I'm taking a vacation from BYC. If I need advice I'll message one of the Golden feather folks.

I met a breeder of Cochin on here. I met with her to purchase eggs. When I got them she told me they just hit the floor in the car. From what I could tell there, they were okay. I took them home and set them out, planning to add them to the incubator the next morning. A few hours later, I thought I better check for cracks and candled. I found different stages of embryos in a couple eggs! One I figured was about day 12! I contacted her and quickly popped them into the incubator. The others did not develop at all. Less than a week, I heard peeping and that egg had externally pipped. I moved that one to my hatcher. He was a Cochin mutt. We adored that rooster but he wasn't really cute. He had a hooked beak. Anyway, the other eggs weren't fertile. So, I got about 5 fertile eggs with staggered hatching that were pulled from broody hens. When she replaced eggs, not one was fertile. She argued until she tried to hatch herself and found the same. I know how to look for a bullseye and I have great reliability with my bator. Not very happy with people taking advantage.

Since I was lied to and taken advantage of by a fellow poultry lover and put in this situation I would rather you all not to think I'm heartless but neither DH or I eat eggs and we don't butcher chickens but we enjoy having chickens on the property so we researched and decided on Japanese and Serama both small and delightful birds we can keep very close proximity to our house .We have spent a lot of money building coops for our Japanese and for the Serama. All I have is a little 3' by 4' enclosed coop. I can't keep any more than 2 of these babies in there. So I am keeping 2. Even though I know people who would stuff twice as many in and think nothing of it . I just feel finding homes was my best and only option at this point. I know I'm marked as cruel,heartless and inhumane for rehoming such small chicks but so be it. They have good homes with people who have chickens, 'no Easter presents' who have mixed flocks.
I'm not going to comment on this thread anymore. Thank you to the people who understand the 'why' in my situation. To those of you who don't. SORRY.

Sorry to hear you were taken advantage of too. How do you verify what your getting in situations like this? It makes me angry. I don't know if the seller thought I was stupid or what. I'll never pay that much for hatching eggs again.

A reputable breeder is more than willing to show off their birds. They will take the time to let you know exactly what varieties they have, and should know exactly what varieties they are giving you to hatch. Good breeders put a lot of effort into their lines, and that will show in your conversations with them.

x2. If they are you shouldn't have to ask any questions. They should be more than happy to tell you all about them. But still you can really only take someone's word and not being in a circle to make connections so to speak can make it difficult to aquire quality

i have a situation here....i got 13 shipped eggs....candled after 5 days all but two thriving....so i had 11 now...tonight at day 10 i got home from work. tired and actually not feeling great....took one broody out (two hens were sitting on the eggs in dog crates all set up nicely) and i fell, knocked over the one one crate that was up on two milk crates....mom was already out...it tipped upside down, 3 eggs totally broke, one slightly cracked and two not damaged (on the outside that is!)....i will not get into my self recriminations, sick to my stomach, sad, ****** off (at myself)etc etc...question is...the two that are not broken..any chase they will be ok? the one that was slightly cracked i put first aid tape on...to give it a shot at least and will candle all again before lockdown....anyone ever had similar experience? it was a bad fall (for them not me)....i am so crushed and heartsick...the other hen still has 5...as a side not my new broody pen will be done in a few days so this will NEVER happen again.....

I actually got on here to recommend telling others the name you purchased from so that they cannot continue to take advantage. I am actually scouting some eggs on eBay now and seriously leery due to what happened to you. There is a Facebook site called "Good egg bad egg" where you can tell and prevent others from doing the same. Please do not be ashamed for expressing your views and asking others... it was obviously something you didn't do easily. And regarding you giving away chicks... it's is rare anyone keeps them all. So don't feel guilty for a moment.
