i may be getting ducks anything i need to know

Call ducks and muscovies are domestic ducks, sometimes mallards in certain states but wood ducks, canvas backs and the tree ducks are migratory ducks and you must have a permit from the person you bought them from to keep them. Hopefully the muscovies will not be banned entirely if the government has its way it will probably just charge a fee just like the migratory ducks to keep them or more correctly to sell them.
Let me rescind what I just said, actually a licensed seller of migratory birds will send you a Form 3-186 proving that you purchased the birds and that they are not wild birds.

Ours were born and raised in the house for at least 2mths each so the imprinting is pretty strong...

We let our ducks and chickens out every evening about 1-2hrs before sunset so they can free range some...They will put themselves away shortly after the sun sets and before it's dark every night like clockwork..It is like babysitting however, we are constantly checking and doing headcounts...

Our Musckovies fly but can't seem to go far, even the strongest flyer has trouble making it to the roof of our rancher...The 2 fatter males are lucky to get 6' off the ground and go 50'...We hope the fact they don't fly too well and don't go anywhere is because they don't want to get too far from the coop as it's getting dark, which is why we let them out so late...Seems like a good technique so far...

The imprinting helps too, when they start wondering where I don't want them, I just call their names out the window and they start wagging their tails, bobbing their heads and hissing as they walk towards my voice!
