I may have asked this before but I didnt get clear answers abt lacing

Okay, the lacing gene....what would I have to do to produce MORE lacing from only ONE laced bird?

So say I take a blue laced red to a blue.

The resulting chicks, I have no clue what they'd be, but I assume to get that lacing gene I'd have to breed back the chicks to the lacing gene again? Is this correct?

Lol I think I answered this last time too. If you cross a solid blue to a BLR you will get the basic blue genetics (black blue splash) the pullets will be mostly solid colored and the males will have some color in their hackle, saddle, wingbow, and some in the breast more than likely. You then take those pullets and mate them back to a BLR. I say keep the pullets because I am pretty sure the males are impure for lacing. By crossing the first generation pullets back to a BLR bird you should get atleast 50% laced birds if not more. Those birds still wont be the best looking but they will look close to the desired BLR. You could either cross those birds together and get some poor BLR birds or do another cross to a BLR to get the proper lacing and all.

What do you mean by "more lacing" ? Do you want offspring with better lacing? Multiple lacing? Additional birds that are laced?

Lacing is caused by at the pattern gene (Pg) in combination with melanotic (Ml). The exact combinations of the two copies of each of htese genes makes a difference, and other genes can modify the lacing. The specific E allele can be important.
