Hello,
This spring I mixed some breeds to see what egg colors they would give. I thought it might be fun for you guys to see, especially if you are concidering mixing these breeds yourself. My first flock is from 2021, and is a flock of 25 chickens and one rooster (BCM). This spring I wanted to hatch more chickens so that I could get a second flock. To get this new flock I both hatched eggs from my own chickens and I also bought hatching eggs. The second flock now consists of 21 hens and one rooster (Australorp).
First of all, my rooster is a Black Copper Marans.
1. The first mix is between my BCM rooster and Silverudds Blue hens.
The offspring (three chickens) give me these colors:

2. The second mix is between my BCM rooster and a Australorp hen.
The offspring (one chicken) give me this color:

3. The third mix is between my BCM rooster and an Englsih Araucana-mix (a hen that is already a mix, she lays dark green eggs).
The offspring (one chicken) give me this color:

4. The fourth mix is between my BCM rooster and an English Araucana hen.
The offspring (one chicken) give me this color:
(WILL UPDATE WITH PICTURE ONCE SHE STARTS LAYING)
In addition, this year I hatched some eggs from my own purebred Black Copper Marans.
This is what the offspring (three chickens) lays:

I also bought hatching eggs from a local breeder, this was the result from those chickens (three chickens):

As you can see, the chickens I got from the BCM hatching eggs I bought versus the "homemade" BCM chickens lays a very different colour! The bought ones has an orange color, while the ones I got from my own chickens are more red in color. Interesting to see!
I also hatched Cream Legbar and Vorwerk chickens together with these eggs
Hope some of you find this interesting.
