I have just been "pulled to the side" for the second time by the cops.

This time though, it was in my own yard!
I live out in the country (sort of ) and have 5 1/2 acres. I was taking my pup on a walk around the yard , getting some training in. Whenever I go outside I ALWAYS have a few knives on me.

Well today it has been really warm, and so i didnt know if id discover any unwanted visitors. So I strapped my machete to my belt along with one of my daggers.

Well someone passing by saw my and I guess they got freaked out, so the next thing I know Im coming around the corner of y house and a cop is sitting in my drive way. I walk up, not understanding what is going on.

The cop ( a guy in his mid fifties ) tells me that I was reported as " beating my dog: with my machete! I was outraged! I quickly picked up my pup and handed him to the officer. She then put on her charm and was licking him all over the face and being a wiggle butt.

I asked if he saw anything wrong with my dog, and he replied by asking if I had any other canines on the premises. He started to get a little rude though, and I didnt like how he was talking down to me, police or not he was on my property.
Me being who I am I opened my front door and called to my other mini schnauzer and told her to come on out. She came out snarlin and a growlin of course. She is lovable but does not like it when strangers talk rudely to us. So i picked her up and gave her a kiss and then handed her to the officer. This one is about 5 y/o and pure muscle, so she is heavier than she looks. I asked him if she looked abused and he admitted "no, she doesnt". So I asked if he would like to see my ducks or my rats to see if they were abused. He looked me up and down ( I was wearing shorts, mud boots, a sleeveless shirt and my "abuse weapons" on each hip )

He asked to see my ducks, just so he could "make sure". This got me mad, :rantbut it was my fault for offering. So I lead him back to the duck pens where I had just changed the water and they were frolicking. I asked if he would like a closer look at these as well ( My older dog heard my tone of voice she began growling again) and he replied " No, thats all I need." He then walked over to his car and left abruptly.

I know, I was rude to an officer, :ducbut i couldnt help it. First they call the cops on me for trying to help an emaciated cat and now they call the cops on me in my own yard trying to train my puppy to heel in the same week. So I got a little rowdy, hey Im a "youngin"

I think your anger was misdirected. You're going to make a name for yourself among the police if you're rude to them, and be known as a troublemaker, and that won't be any good for you in the future because they won't believe anything you say.

Ive got a few cops living down my road that could always give in a good word for me. I am at their place often working with their horses or dogs. This guy was working some one elses patrol and wasnt used to me. I should have gotten upset with the person who called me in but the officers attitude towards me kind of put a fire under my rump.

It does seem a bit unusual for someone to have big knoves strapped to him doesn't it ?

IM not saying you were doing anything wrong but do you really feel that threatened when you go outside ?

Isn't awful when due to your age you are mistreated by law enforcement personnel? Steven got a black hoodie for Christmas and wore it into El Paso yesterday. He bought 2 video games and as he was leaving Wal Mart the "door dog" asked to see his receipt for his bag. I was with him and told the woman flat out no she can't see it because his items are in a bag and they can only check for open items that don't fit in bags. The she asked him if he had anything he hadn't paid for in his pockets!!! I asked for the manager right then. The moron manager started in on how these kids in hoodies are always shop-lifting and hidding things in the pockets in the front or in the hood hanging in back and actually went to touch the hood on Steven's back. I stopped him and told him he better have a darn good reason and a security video before he touched one thread on my son.
Did I over-react? I don't think so, and I hate the Wal Mart policy of backing up customers 9 and 10 deep to check a receipt because you have a 50 pound bag of dog foof that you just left the line with! And to tell me my son is crook because he wears a hoodie??

Stand up for yourself sweetie, but I am going to say one thing you might not like. It sounds like you are purposely drawing attention to yourself the way you were dressed and the weapons you were carrying. Steven collects knives and when we hike he carries one too, so do I. But we carry them very discreetly, there is no reason anyone else should know what you are carrying. Since it looks like someone has it out for you, don't make it so easy for them to target you.

It was actually a neighbors brother in law. Ive seen him around a bit when I watch his sisters rotties.

I just don't see how this was mis-directed anger???

sounds to me like it was directed at the person being rude. As for the weapons, you were on YOUR property so it seems to me that unless you are not allowed to have a weapon of any sort, no one has any reason to complain. Sorry these things keep happening to you.

Well for one I just like knives, so why not use them? Ive dealt with alot of snakes and small mammals that think it is ok to hide in my duck hut as well as I usually slash through the tall grasses by the barn. they are like really tall weeds and they get in the way of my camera lense sometimes. Plus they are growing all over my pet cemetery and I like to keep it cleaned up. We have also been seeing Coyotes getting more adventurous. We have at least 3 packs around here and they have begun to come out during the day.

Id just like to be prepared for anything so that I dont have to worry so much about the safety of my animals
