I posted a similar post in the duck forum, but I wanted to try here too. So, I have 5 ducks. Three females, two males. One female, Charlotte, is sitting on her eggs. The drakes don't seem to approve of that, because they peck and nip at her until she gets up. So I've been closing the door during the day. But at night when they all have to go inside (predators are very, very common) she has to get up. If she doesn't sit at night, they won't hatch. So I need a new pen to put the other four until she hatches the babies out
, and even then, I'll probably keep them together for a few more weeks, so the ducklings are safe from predators and the drakes.
Long story short, I need a duck coop. I have no available wood, unless my dad decides that we have enough to spare. I don't think that's the case, so if it's not, I need to build one with no wood. I have some like, one inch metal chicken wire. And lots of it. But no wood. And I'll say this now. I can't build. I can drive a nail, and I can cut wire, but that's about it. My dad could do it for me, but he's done a lot for my pets and I want to try and do one myself. I won't make that an excuse for them to not get what they need, but if it's at all possible, I want to do it myself.
Any really creative ways anyone's thought of? We only have ever had one outside dog therefore only one dog house, and we still have that dog. No big dog kennels. No sheds I can spare. No basement or garage. I know, just a half inch from impossible.
Thank you!
