I need a hug SO BAD right now...

I am so sorry for you and your Violet. Boy people that let their dogs run just make my blood boil. I think you need to make Mr. Doof Man pay for your chicken, fence and pain and suffering. I have 12 dogs of my own, but I have a completely fenced yard and they stay in the yard when I am home and in my house in kennels when I am not. I again am so sorry for the loss of your Violet.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and virtual hugs...although our paths will probably not cross outside of this web site, it really warms my heart to know you're here.
Thanks again.

I too am so sorry.

What a fear it is for us all to find one or all of our babies mauled. We had ducks when I was growing up and raccoons got them. I am scared to leave my darlings out all night... even if it WILL be in a chicken coop/shed.

I am so sorry to hear about your poor little Violet. How sweet you burried her in a Violet patch. You made the remark about a flimsy fence.....I sure hope you will be able to reinfirce it. This dog WILL be back, now that it knows where the chickens are. PLEASE be safe with them. Maybe put a string of electric wire around the area the dog broke into?

I am so sorry.

That is truly my worst nightmare. I panic every time I see dogs running through the neighborhood.

So sorry, I agree with the first reply. I swear, people are the dumb ones in these cases of running dogs. Grrrr. Its not the dog, my suggestion is to sploink that dog with a floresent orange paint ball, and then wait to see the complaints about there painted dog. And when the stink is caused, explain that they owe you another hen. Sorry to hear of your loss!
