I'm new to the chicken industry. I know how to take care of them and all but when things like this happen I'm not sure what to do! I've just been going off the things I find on the internet. My hen prolapsed and I've been soaking her in Epsom salt and warm water medicating it then pushing it back in. But everytime I push it in it just comes right back out a min. Later. Am I not pushing far enough? Is this hopeless? It's been 2 days now that I've been doing this.

Welcome to BYC. You are doing everything right. Put some honey, sugar, or hemorrhoid cream on the vent opening to help decrease swelling if you haven't already. Sometimes it helps to keep her in the dark for 16 hours overnight every day, and decrease her food a little to help stop her laying. These hens do not always make it, and prolapse can happen again. Here is some information to help you:

I have always culled after a prolapse, one chicken, one turkey hen. I think two days may be getting to be too long to fix it, I think people use preparation H to decrease the swelling so it stays in, and you would need to keep her out of egg production, hopefully someone can give you better advice than me.
