Please someone have a answer for me
I have 30 chickens I have raised from 1 day old, today the people I bought the house from told me I had to get rid of the chickens because Tyson will not allow them to have their business (raising Tyson chickens) so close to me and my backyard chickens. The old owners felt downright bad asking me to do this, it's the way they make their living. I understand that, really I do. I have 40 acres I could move them a 1/2 mile away from these other chickens, but I will not be able to enjoy them like I do now, they would not have water readily available to them, I would have to truck it to them, not to mention when it gets cold, I will not be able to give them any heat.
My question is this, does anyone know if Tyson can close these people down because I have my baby's so close to these barns? I am just sick!!!!!!

That's a possibility, Tyson puts a lot of stipulations on their farmers and it could happen. If you are that close to them,.you will hate it due to the flies and stench. Why are the old owners even worrying about it, it shouldn't be any of their concern. I'm not trying to be rude towards them. But it seems a little odd, that they are asking you not to bring your chickens with you. I'd put up a privacy fence up.

They are saying its because my BYC can be carriers of diseases that can be caught airborne
I am raising them to be drug free unless a sickness is present, then I will give them meds, otherwise they will be free range chickens

Old owners still own the Tyson farm across the road, it's about 1/4 of a mile from my chickens.idk this has gotten me very upset, I fell in love with my chickens

The old owners are very nice people, we bought the house almost 2 years ago, but they noticed the chickens yesterday ( my roo was talking and they heard him) I have only had the chickens 6 months, enough time to fall in love:(
Does anyone know where I can get the laws of Tyson for their farmers?

i find it hard to believe that a company could have that type of stipulation in their business contract.
Other chickens being near the tyson chicken farm is not something that can be controlled. I would guess that the old owners are worried about loosing some of their profit just because it might be a possibility of your chickens getting sick.
If the tyson company becomes that worried, i would guess that you would get some legal paperwork in the mail from them.
I'd keep my chickens till then

Very unfortunate situation, I hope Tyson will be happy in their new location.

When did you buy the house, and how long have you had your chickens on that property?
Something seems fishy, why did the old owners and not Tyson tell you this. I would just keep your chickens and wait for someone from Tyson to tell you that you can't have them and ask them their reasoning behind this. Is it biosecurity? I definately would be looking into a reply before they told me to get rid of the chickens on your 40 acres.

Ok, wait. Need some clarification. You said the people you bought the place from told you to get rid of your chickens. So are they now your neighbors and raising chickens for Tyson? But you own this property you live on? And they are saying that YOU can't have chickens on your own property because of what they are doing on their property?

This might be a case of TOO BAD for them if you want to keep your own chickens. Was all of this disclosed and discussed before you bought the place? I just don't see how they can now try to tell you that you can't keep your chickens on 40 acres.

If they are indeed raising chickens on contract for Tyson then I'm sure they have stringent bio security rules they have to follow as far as their chicken houses. I do not believe for a minute that those rules include telling neighboring landowners what they can and cannot do on their own property.
