Can you get your hands on a chick waterer? So he can't get into his water? These little things are tinier than their fluff would have you believe and I think that a hole small enough to prevent him from getting into would not intrigue him enough to seek water out of. I would take all that long grass out of there. Take that yogurt container and cut it down more to about one inch all around. Take about 2 tablespoons of the duck starter and add warm water, swish it around and make a soup. Dip his beek in it and hopefully he will catch on. Again, if you are giving him mealworms, (not earthworms) cut them up very tiny. He needs to be eating the starter more than the grass and at this stage does not need grit. Once you have him going and are giving him greens, and are no longer making a soup, you can sprinkle a bit of tiny grit on his food. I am expecting 7 of these little things tonight on top of my 18 mallard ducklings. The Mallards are a walk in the park compared to the Wood Ducks.
