I was probably a little dramatic in the title but I do need help ASAP! One of my quails hatched out with two curled feet. I fixed one of them, but couldn't do the other one in time (the bones hardened). She is now three weeks old and has adapted very well. She can eat, drink, fly, and walk normally. The only problem is that she is walking on her ankle. So now she has a cut. It's small and nothing terrible is going on with it. I just don't want the cut to get infected or anything. I was also wondering if she needs some kind of itty bitty boot or something like that. The bottom of the ankle is a little bruised as well I really don't want to have to cull her! Please help!!

You could try a boot again, but it's unlikely to work. If you're just worried about the cut, I'd separate her from the other birds and bring her inside for a couple days. Put her in an enclosure with clean shavings and make sure she stays clean and warm.

I don't know if you're going to have a choice about culling her, though. You can probably keep from culling her, but she may need extra attention for the rest of her life.

None of my quails fight at all! They don’t peck at her feet either. By the way the white thing on her foot is some medical tape. I thought maybe that would protect her foot a little bit.
