I’m so sorry! You have done a great job with problem solving and things don’t always go the way we hope. When one of my ducks had part of her vent protruding, my avian vet recommended dabbing some Preparation-H hemorrhoid cream on it to reduce swelling and relieve any itch or pain that might cause her or one of the other birds to peck at it. Hers actually resolved in a day or two. So this might be something that would make things better for Dawn and give him some relief while you find another companion. His change in feed may be an adjustment for his system. Or there may be other things going on.

I know this is a painful decision for you and we are still in your corner.

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. I know how difficult it can be to be young & the sole caretaker of your animals.

It sounds like your duck's problem is actually a prolapse - not uncommon in ducks, though it can be scary to see. I have no personal experience with this, so hopefully someone who has will come along and advise you on that.

It's good that he seems to be improving on the new food! Hopefully, with some patience, his feet will continue to get stronger and less painful.
