Almost year old RIR hen. Good layer. No past prolapse issues. Maintenance treatments for parasites and buggies. No antibiotic history.

No sneezing, coughing or drainage
Poop is fine. She does have a tiny bit of poop on her backside feathers
Is still eating and drinking
No longer will perch, hides and stays off on her own, wings droopy
Checked her feet no apparent issues there except her scales are a bit flushed looking. No injuries or scale issues. It almost looks like her leg scales are blushing.
I felt her underside and do not feel any egg. This is the 2nd day she has been like this.

I do need to treat this myself.
Currently I have her confined in a pet carrier inside the house to keep her warm and calm. She is currently eating a bit of the high protein game bird feed and drinking.

you can at least give her some electrolyte solution in her water for a boost, may help her. keeping her warm and separated from the others is good, not sure whats wrong, but she sounds weak, do you live in a cold climate? it has been so cold that my smaller hens have been challenged, I took one in for a few nights to keep her out of the -20 degree nights, put her out in the day, gave her electrolyte solution, she perked back up and looks better now. before bed time I give them all some warm corn so they can produce some body heat, they seem better now

It has been colder but she was one of my most vigorous girls. Hand raised, super healthy. I am almost afraid a rooster hurt her. We had too many roos for a bit. 4 went in the freezer and 1 got rehomed so we are down to our 2 main roos ago. I am just hoping that maybe it was the cold. She is eating and drinking fine inside. Seems anxious to get out of the kennel and move around. A bit afraid to let her back into the run. I watched her poo and it seems fine.

She cries when I pick her up still though. I think the boys were too rough though still. The rough roos are sitting in the fridge waiting for the bus to freezer camp now so the problem is solved but she is still hurting. i will keep her in a couple more days I think.

Check for mites, these may have been in her nest box. ALso, are there any wounds on her from talons or otherwise? Praying for her health. Nancy
