I bred my Black mottled Japanese bantam rooster to a plain Jane blue silkie and I am getting some strange colors on their chicks! I know nothing about the parents genetics so that does not help but I just want to know anything that could be possible. One is black and one is blue but they have some gold coming in on their shoulders, necks, and crest. It has black in the center of the feather and gold on the outside. I tried to get a pic of feather pattern but I was alone and they were squirmy lol. If you want any more pics, or pics of the parents ask and you shall receive xD

one of the geneticist on here once told me this
"The gold/red was actually from the rooster, all chickens are either silver or gold (and roosters can be both), so he must have passed down the gold gene, turning the laced pattern from silver to red."

So what do you mean by laced. Because I don't see how they could have a lace gene (also, I want to clarify I am never thinking you are wrong I am just asking questions because I have no clue lol)

this was in regards to me asking about my birds where the mom was a laced but the dad was pure black. but it does answer where your getting the gold from
