I bought my entire flock from TSC during chick days. Now I truly know this isn’t their doing but I was under the impression that some of the breeds I received were females. However, one I know for sure that was supposed to be a female is absolutely a male. Now, I have a foghorn leghorn that does not crow but “her” features suggest she is actually a he. I also have a what I believe is the production red that also has features of a male. Then I turn my attention to my duckies. I believe that I have 1 female and 5 males...however one of the “males” doesn’t genuinely seem to have the curl on his tail, but his quack is rather low. Can anyone help me? I know if I have more males then I surely need to “weed out” my flock. TIA

Both chickens are pullets. I'd guess at least 3 of the ducks are drakes, not as sure on the Pekins.

Thank you! I was starting to get worried that I had more roosters than I needed. I was almost sure on the Rouen/mallards but I’m not positive on the two Pekins I posted. One does have a true curl but one doesn’t. So I know I need to slim down my duck flock.

Thank you all for your help! I do know that some of my “females” are truly males...they crow, give them stank eye and are overall bigger than the females. The ducks for sure are throwing me for a loop. 1 pekin is for sure female, they have tried mounting her, she has a louder more vocal quack compared to the others. I do appreciate all the help!

LOL! My boyfriend and I went a little overboard during chick days. We just finished butchering 5 roosters that were supposed to be hens, and we have another several up n' comers that will need to be processed soon that were also supposed to be hens. Oh well. Also, I have 7 ducks and just one is female, so we're also going to be butchering some poor drakes. We're getting pretty good at it though, and we're getting pretty good at making some delicious chicken dishes! :D
