I need help with my chicken

There is something wrong with my chicken. She has minimal eating and drinking, walks like a penguin and she lays around a lot with minimal walking. She is mostly swollen around her butt and her stomach. What little she poops is diarrhea but her bloated areas are warm to the touch. I don't think that she is egg bound because she had been like this for about 2 weeks now.

It is entirely possible that she is egg bound - despite what you often hear/read, it is not something that will kill the bird in a matter of a few days if unresolved. There are a couple of other things that could also be going on - so the first step is to confirm/rule out binding. This is going to be simple to do by a basic internal exam - wash, glove and lube your finger ...then insert it into her vent. If she is egg bound, the egg will be easily reached/felt within about an inch.

If you can't feel anything, try gently messaging the area to move something along.

How long does it take for the swelling/bloating to go down to know that it worked? If it doesn't work how long till I should retry?
