I need help!

It's late and all stores are closed. what can I give her from around the house as a calcuim suppliment?

You can try grinding up some egg shells and mixing it with a little yogurt or some thin "paste" made from chicken feed. That way you can feed it to her with a syringe or eye dropper if she refuses to eat on her own. Dark greens like spinach leaves are also high in calcium. Pet stores that sell bird supplies should carry a liquid calcium supplement, btw.

If you aren't already doing so, you should be offering your flock oyster shell as a feeding supplement. Just leave some out so the hens can eat it whenever they need more calcium in their diet. It's sold at feed stores or pet stores that carry bird stuff.

HEY! YOU need to take her to the vet.. being egg bound usually kills the bir if left untreated. also secondary infections are common and also damage to tissues from the egg being shoved around.

Time is a factor here.. id go to the vet or get a hold of a local chicken farmer or a farmer who raises chicken..c allyour local feed mill ask if they know anyone..

an experienced person should treat your bird. It may not be egg binding and if its not and you staert poking around in there you can do more damage. Also if it is an egg you can break it inside her and risk serious infection.

You can try local animal rehabbers or wildlife rehabbers as well.. call around find somebody cause if this egg binding she will die if its left untreated and if its not then its something else serious.

Sorry I am not of more help.

There is a search function here... type in as keyword "eggbound" and be sure to specify the emergency forum.
The type of calcium you need is found is plain ole TUMS ... crush that up and mix with a wee bit of cooked oatmeal .
Put her in a warm bath and then keep her in a darkened tempstable and warm area and use kYgel to lubricate the vent. Repeat the warm bath etc. in six hours if she has not passed the egg.

Thanks to the above posters for stepping in to help out! I've never had an issue with egg-binding yet (knock on wood) but tried my best to offer what little advice and encouragement I could when it was needed. I should have remembered that Tums are the best source of calcium... Thanks for that reminder, too!
