I feed high protein egg laying feed with a handful of mealworm and either, kale, corn or peas as a treat once a day. I am still getting at least 30 eggs a week with my 3 hens and it's January lol they also have three big tubs of water, a automatic waterer and 3 kiddy pools I change daily and we've had 8 inches of snow last week. Hope this might helpi’m trying to give a protien rich snack to one of my runner ducks, who is molting and has been eating feathers and choking on them . she does not like scrambled eggs. She likes mealworms so I gave her some of them. Her regular feed is Mazuri waterfowl feed maintenance. She also eats Nutura nature wise, all flock pellets. If I add a higher level protein feed to the feed, then all my ducks and chickens will be eating it too .

I switched it from the pellets and they're eating better and seem to love it!I feed high protein egg laying feed with a handful of mealworm and either, kale, corn or peas as a treat once a day. You are probably referring to crumbles. Mash, crumbles and pellets are the same thing. Same mix, same nutrition. It is all finely ground, then a binding agent is mixed in and it is run through a pelletizer. To get crumbles, they do a run of pellets through a crumbler.Their meal is not pellets, we have ours that's like a mash, it's dry, it not powder , rougher.. they love it! Thank you! I couldn't think of what they called it for anything lol they like it alot better than pellets, even the small ones. You are probably referring to crumbles. When chickens get used to crumbles, they don't always take to pellets right away. But when they get hungry, they will eat them. Chickens won't starve themselves.
The value of pellets is that each bite contains all the nutrients in the feed.
