I need ideas for new brooders.....

I've used galvonize horse water troughs....But they tend to get rusty and they aren't big enough for all the chicks....Therefore we have alot of brooder deaths. SO I NEED NEW IDEAS FOR BROODERS THIS SPRING! What do you use? Hopefully something non-flammable and escape-proof?LOL

I use 4x4x4 wooden shipping crates from a factory in our town. They get parts in them, but have no use for them after they are emptied. They wouldnt be that hard for someone to make.

We used an old table we got for free and them put sides all the way around it and a hinged top w/wire. I used two bed brackets screwed to the top to clamp the heat lamp to. Then I used to round grill grates screwed into the corners to keep the water up out of the shavings. It works perfect for us

What a DARN good idea using those grill grates!! I will have to keep that in mind. I am always amazed at how ingeniuous people can be.
