You can do the melt and pour soap if you have a michaels or some craft store close enough - but that can get expensive.

Perhaps you can dry flowers/leaves etc... squish them in a book.. make pictures and cards when they're dry.

blown out eggs are cheap and easy~ and it's chicken oriented...lol
Take an egg, a needle (stick pins work easier for me, tender fingers)
Take needle to big part of egg, push through, GENTLY!!
Work it into a biggish but not too big hole.
Take little part of egg, make hole... blow hard till it all comes out
Rinse, set on dish drainer til dry. Paint then decorate.
Take a ribbon, make a bow, glue. Take another small length of ribbon, make loop, glue onto big end of egg, glue bow onto where loop and egg meet. Tada!
Christmasy ornament gifts.

You can make pretty decorative bowls out of tissue paper and white glue. Take a bowl, coat the inside with Vaseline. Tear the tissue paper into strips. Get a sponge piece and glob on a layer of glue inside the bowl, start layering the tissue paper. Make sure to dab a good layer of glue over each layer of tissue paper. After you have 10 layers or so of tissue paper over every section, put your last layer of glue on. Wait a couple of days for it to dry. It should just pop right out of the bowl, and you can just wipe the vaseline off. If you want to get all fancy you can sprinkle a bit of glitter on either the first or last layer. The bowls turn out semi-transparent and shiny, like glass. But oh so cheap! A buck or two at the Dollar Store. You can make plates as well, really any shape you have a form for that you'll be able to pop the finished project out of.

This is a messy project, but a great one with kids as the results are so pretty. You can use papers other than tissue paper, they just won't be semi-transparent.

OOo - AngieChick, I've done that project before and it Is really cool!!! I also did that same thing with tissue paper on a mason jar... or maybe it was a baby food jar... anyway, and we made votives for our moms(I was in elementary school when I did this project). It was Awesome and it was really pretty too. Only we did one layer of tissue paper and left it on the glass piece we were working on. You can do the same thing with clear plates and vases and make serving pieces with it. Oooo - I am glad you mentioned this project, because I had forgotten about it, and it would be a great thing to do with my son for his art class. THANK YOU!!!!

Last year I did candy dishes. I will try to explain them

Items needed

1 - 4 inch clay pot
1 - 3 inch clay pot bottom
1 bottle of christmas red paint
1 clear vase with fluted edge (the 3 inch clay pot bottom should fit in this) it should be kind of round and is about 6 or 7 inches high. You can find these in Joann's next to the clay pots.

1 roll of wide christmas ribbon red and white
Hot glue and glue gun

1 bag of those christmas nugut mints that have the tree in the middle.

Paint the clay pot and pot bottom red (ya might need more than one coat) Ya don't have to do the inside of the pot but you have to do the outside completely and the pot bottom completely

After it dries turn the clay pot upside down and glue the clear vase on top of it let dry. Cover the bottom of the vase and the clay pot bottom where they meet with the ribbon and hot glue the ribbon to the bottom of pot and the bottom of glass vase. Then make a bow and glue that where the seam meets. Fill vase with candy and put pot bottom in opening of vase for a lid.

This candy dish should look like a old fashioned bubble gum machine.

This might not make sense if I am confusing anyone I will try to explain better. I don't think I have a pic. You can also take some white paint and decorate that red bottom with painted snow flakes

I about popped my ear drums doing a tiny "fart egg" for my granddaughter then a friend suggested using a big syringe to suck the egg out. I haven't tried it yet but I sure will next time I try to blow one out!
