I am having real issues keeping the bator up to par as far as humidty goes. I am in the desert. 10% humidity in the air is high. Does anyone have suggestions besides opening the bator 4 times a day????

Wouldn't opening the 'bator release moisture?

make sure the little wells stay full of water plus I use a couple of wet sponges or washcloths that I line up along the outer edges. Make sure you put them in soaked with warm water, not cold or hot.

I have done that and the MAX I get is 40%... This hatch I am no so worried about because it is my own eggs. But when I hatch shipped eggs, the temp and humidity need to be optimal!!! It is not. For this reason ONLY I wish I lived in the south.

I live in the Pacific NW and have the opposite problem, but I bet it would help if you ran a humidifier in the room you have the incubator in. Good luck

We bought a feeding syringe with a tube attached to it...(cheap at feed stores..)
What we sometimes do is just stick the tube through a hole in the top of the bator and squirt hot water into the water channels OR onto a sponge in the bator.
Sponges work VERY good for keeping humidity up in bators... toss a hot/wet sponge in there and you'll see ...

I dont think it is bad to open the bator during the first 18 days, though I am stioll having issues with humidty then too. My hygrometer is 17% off and I come home and it reads 45% - that means 33%!!!! CRAP!!!

Try hot soaked sponges... serious..
Even a few HOT soaked paper towels or wash cloth may work in a pinch....

I'm a newbie, but if you have to open 4 times a day, perhaps use a spray bottle with water amd mist before you close to compensate for what may have been lost while opening? Good luck! I'm just now working on getting my temp humidity stable before adding eggs!
