I Need More Chikuns!!!

Yesterday was the first day that I put my eggs on the market. We usually have at least 4 dozen going at a time in my fridge. I have 6 laying hens right now, but one of them is busy being a mom and not laying...so I sent an email to my girls at the courthouse that I had farm fresh eggs should anyone be interested, I got a reply that the order was for eight dozen!

So...now I have eggs on pre-order.

I have 7 more pullets that should be laying in about a month or a little over, but there will be little pullet eggs for a little while.

I need more chikuns!!!

I have 21 laying and can never keep enough eggs for everyone. I have 13 more that should be laying any minute now.

Yeah.. get more chickens!.... I started an egg delivery round just locally, and at the moment I can't keep up with the orders!...

I decided to help folks get started with chickens and I went from 11 or 12 eggs a day down to 2 or 3. Driving me nuts. C'mon October!

And would you believe it, I went home last night thinking I would almost have enough eggs to make up one more dozen and three of the four BO's went on strike. Actually I think their cycle has them laying later in the day right now because they're certainly not molting.

You can never have enough good laying hens IMO

Dad usually just gave them away, since he couldn't get anyone to pay for them. This year, he has reduced his flock to about 10 hens, and has decided to let them free range, so most of the eggs we find in nests hidden in the grass. Those go to the dogs. Still getting quite a few eggs weekly, and he's still giving them away for the most part. Thank goodness they keep for a while, he's the only one that will (or can) eat them.

lol, i've got the opposite problem...in advance! i've now got 17 pullets that will be laying within the month and i don't think i'll have enough customers! ah well, i'll manage somehow and i love having them around
