Today is lockdown....day18
Everything is set.cannot get the humidity up ..went up to 50 for about half an hour........settles on 45

I have a LG still air........temp is fine...took the plugs out..filled all three chambers???????????

started about three hours ago............temp had dropped a bit, which I expected.........but holding steady at 99.5.
Any suggestions ?
Thank You.
Also, I put a sponge in but have not added water to it...put it in just in case.................

If you put one or both of the plugs back in, your humidity will probably go up. Good luck on your hatch!

That seems a bit strange. Have you calibrated your hygrometer? They can be off by quite a bit.....

ETA: I'm using the same bator and leave the back plug in until they start hatching.

hi again,
Yes, the hydrometer is right on.
Was thinking about how dry it is in our house....usually keep water boiking on the stove.
I plugged both holes and the humidity is 64 now.
I'll just keep checking it..sure don't want to lose them now.
Thanks for youe input.

Im not sure I would keep both vent covers on. They need airflow and to get the carbon dioxide out.
You can wet sponges and stick them inside. That ups my humidity alot! But then again, I cant ever get the humidity up in my LG like I can my hovabator.
Good luck

Yes, yes, yes. You must have ventilation in your incubator our you may very well lose them. The wet sponges work great. I am not familar with the LG, but can you put the nozzle of a spray bottle in it and mist the eggs? Make sure you use warm water. I also had some wet egg cartons in mine. They make great "water holders" as well as egg holders.

You can tube water into it through the ventholes (assuming you place the sponges under the ventholes, under the wire floor). However, doing that didnt up my humidity at all.
I just straight up open my bator and rewet sponges and also spritz inside bator. Lockdown for me isnt really lockdown at all. But I have gotten way better hatch rates.
When I did true lockdown, I got 0/13 and 1/13 hatch. Started opening it up and adding the sponges and spritzing, got 5/6, 4/4.
If it doesnt work, you can always change the way you did it next time. After 2 busts, I changed to opening and its worked, so Im sticking with it.

I opened mine as well, just enough to spray some water in it. Then I realized that I could do it through the vent holes. Humidity and ventilation are critical. IMO
