Our Black Copper Marans have been having loose orange colored stools. My husband went to the feed store and they sold him some tetracycline powder. I read this morning NOT TO USE ON BIRDS LAYING EGGS FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION! I am so upset ..can we never eat their eggs again? We also have one young pullet that seems lethargic and keeps her eyes closed. We were worried that if she is sick she might make them all sick so that is why he asked them what to do at the feed store...now I am afraid that we have messed up the whole flock. They were on the medicated water for 1 day. Please help.

You can eat the eggs that are produced after they finish the course of medication. Give it a couple days to work through their systems and then you are fine. It's not a permanent thing.

LOL! we just posted the same time......what are all the symptoms? Age of birds, free range? penned? Feed?

They have loose stools and one is lethargic with it's eyes closed and is shaking some..they don't seem to have any respiratory problem.
