Yes, give the chick the medicated water (2 tablespoons sulmet per gallon) in an eyedropper or syringe as often as possible. If she is going to turn around, it will probably happen by tomorrow if she makes it that long.

Well, she is still with us this morning. Still the same. She has now pooped in her resting place (100 g stock tank) and it looks perfectly normal. I still keep going back to the fact that I stepped on her foot and wonder if that is what made her go down. Course there is the fact that 2 others died last week from unknown causes. So for today, I will offer her water from the syringe and continue treating the remaining 5 with Sulmet dose in their waterer. Thanks to all that are offering help. It is very much appreciated.

Your stepping on her foot would not directly make her sick with coccidiosis. HOwever,
it might make the symptoms more noticable. If a bird or animal is stressed or
has something else wrong, coccidiosis or worms can be worse with them than the rest
of the animals in the same flock or herd. If she had coccidiosis, the rest
would probably have it. The symptoms may just not be showing yet.
Since you caught it in her and treated the flock, you might have caught
something that could have gotten much worse with the rest of the flock .

Her pooping that is a good thing. Have you seen her eat yet?

No, I have not seen her try to eat. However, she was attempting to move around a bit and was making noises. Yesterday she was silent. She of course has no energy so the moving didnt last long. But it gave me a very small ray of hope. Not much tho.

I dont think the hurt foot gave her coccidiosis but then again I dont know if she ever had it. I was just wondering if the whole problem with her was the hurt foot. But I have to keep reminding myself that the other 2 died from something. Plus in hind sight, I think they all stayed in that too small 100 g stock tank too long and even tho I was constantly cleaning, it was hard to keep. Hubby is very meticulous and very slow in his building. It took him about 2 months (he is retired) to convert a horse stall. It is beautiful for what that's worth tho.

I would mix up a batch of the medicated water using pedialyte for the sick chick. That will give her the medication as well as some electrolytes to help her get back on her feet. I also use the Kaytee hand feeding formula for caged birds and you can mix the medicated water in with that into a slurry and give her some via syringe or eyedropper.

My little chick is still alive this morning. No improvement at all. I have been giving her a small syringe of water medicated with Sulmet several times a day and sometimes I put a little egg yolk in it. She has been down since last Saturday. She did poo this morning while I was holding her and it is a small spot of tar black surrounded by mucous. No red. I will try to find the poo chart on here but does this description ring a bell with anyone or is it just because she has not had her regular food for so many days now.

The tarry black is from blood in her system. If at all possible, you should get some of the Kaytee OR just take some of her chick crumbles, wet them down into a mush with the medicated water/electrolytes and give that to her via syringe so she gets some much needed energy. High protein foods like egg yolk assist the cocci in multiplying, so while medicating for cocci, keep them off these kinds of foods. Since she is still alive, she probably has a chance to survive, but will take a lot of hands on care for a little while - feeding small amounts via syringe at least every 3 hours round the clock.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I dont know what Kaytee is and in my search yesterday for the cocci meds, I did not come across anything like that. I dont think I would have time to order it. She was on a 15% grower feed and I will take some of that and make a mush. Seems as if it would be very gritty even wet but I will sure try it. I see a 1% improvement in her because she is opening her eyes for the first time in days and she attempts to get up. That tires her very quickly.

You can get the Kaytee at most pet stores. It's a hand feeding formula for caged birds and can be mixed up to pretty much any consistency for hand feeding. Hope the baby gets better
