I have 56 (somebody else counted them) chickens outside, 3 brooders with a total of 22 chicks of various ages, and five incubators full of eggs. One incubator just HAPPENS to be empty... Oh, and I've got some shipped eggs coming to fill up the incubators as they become available.
I frequently lose time watching the chicks, or outside watching the flock. I can hardly wait until next week when Daylight Saving Time kicks into effect and I can visit with them longer after I get off work!
You need a class on how to be an addict? I am confused cuz i ain't real smart and i figured it out w/o classes...you just get some more and then an incubator and then some more and then another incubator and then....
I remember shortly after I found BYC, I read a post where a woman said a certain small coop design wouldn't work for her, because she liked to sit in the coop and watch her chickens. I thought "That's crazy! Who would sit inside a chicken coop watching chickens?!"
Fast forward to today, after getting my first chicks yesterday. I was sitting on the floor of the pen I set up for my little chickies, getting pine shavings and chicken poop all over my jeans, when I remembered that post, and thought "Oh!" I'm sure I was blushing when I thought it!
Also, I made arrangments to get some more chicks next month from the lady I got these from while I was picking these up...
I think I'm in trouble here! But somehow I doubt y'all are going to help, lol.
