Any suggestions on how to kill mice without poison. I can’t use poison because my birds might eat the poisoned mouse. I already have cats, but they can’t get into the pens. I also have traps that when the mouse walks up the ramp, the ramp goes down, the mouse walks in, but can’t get out. What are the most efficient ways you have found to get rid of mice?

Christines "Rolling log of death"!... I've used it for years. The pole spins and is held up by a nail through the bucket on both sides. Lube with petroleum jelly, a dollup of P.B., water and a little ramp to get up top. Works great inside the house and in the run over night when we think a mouse was gotten in. Some might say its cruel to drown them but I had a family member who basically drown and was resuscitated, he said 2 big gulps and it wasn't that bad, so that's my go to! Good luck and definitely let me know if you tried it!

You can use Evolve which is rat or mouse birth control. It uses cottonseed oil (not the kind you can easily get. Gassypol is the effective part in the cottonseed oil that is removed from what we can normally buy, sadly.)

Works on human males too!

Do a forum search in this forum for rats and chickens. Trying to trap or poison your way out of a rodent infestation is futile. Were you to succeed, a new population would pop up soon. Search also for Howard E's rats 101 posts. He laid out three methods, sanitation which is bulk feed in metal drums, cleaning up the pathways to expose the rodents to natural predators, and using a good rat proof treadle feeder. Stay off Amazon, you won't find one there.

The next method is to build a Ft. Knox coop. Much more expensive and no free range, but it works.

Next is the elimination, poison and traps, never ending effort and expense.
