I need to get talked down a bit maybe

definitely in agreement with "your doctor is a loon" theory. doubling down on the "god complex" too.

my hubby was a slow grower, so much so that they put him on growth hormone shots when he was 10 or so, and again when he was 14. neither round did anything. and then in his late teens he shot up to 6'2". we don't all go according to the typical plan.

the forcing her to eat stuff she hates sounds like a fine plan for developing a food disorder.

one of my friends has severe food alergies, something they didn't figure out when she was a kid. she lived on sugar water and crackers for the first two years of her life... needless to say she wasn't the healtiest of kids, and she was always puffy overweight... when she was 20, her hair started falling out and she started into menopause. she had the most amazingly bad hypoglycemia I've ever seen. she was really afraid she was going to die from whatever it was that was wrong with her, and that made her depressed. the docs said whatever it was, they couldn't find any sign of illness, so it must be in her head!!! wanted to put her on anti-depressants or anti-psychotics.

she found a doctor who is a ... medical ecologist? basically a guy who looks at everything, from blood tests to allergies to environment to lifestyle to subtle details of experience and symptoms. it took more than a year, but they figured out she was alergic to pretty much everything but eggs, chicken, white rice, some salad greens. he put her on a super strict diet of just those things, found some vitamins she could tollerate, gave her B vitamin shots, got her on allergy shots. took 4 years but now she can eat a fair variety of things, her health has fully returned, her hair is all grown back in, and she feels great. she's slimmed down to a perfect figure. she really looks quite like sandra bullock.

so glad you're getting a new doc.

Oh I'm not arguing that at all. It is her right and she can obtain a copy after signing a consent for herself. However, they don't want her getting a copy than handing it to the other doctors office. It's safer just to have records transferred. She can obtain a copy for her own personal uses however.

My son is five years old. He is just over three feet tall and weighs just over 30 pounds. I am 5'4" and his daddy is 4'5"/5'5".

He was born without brown fat and his normal newborn weight loss put him in at about 4 pounds 9 ounces. Never once did they tell me to keep him on a bottle. I breastfed exclusively though. I forget when I started him on solids, around the normal age I guess. He quit the breast on his own when he was 18 months. Even though he is small and doesn't weigh much, they say he is perfectly normal/healthy.

He is perfectly healthy and is growing, just growing slowly. My doctors say he is fine.

I hope your new doctor is better than the last!

When I was little, I was tiny too. I had lots of muscle but not a spare inch of fat. And then I got pregnant, grrr. lol You cannot fight genetics and I know some doctors and nurses aren't very smart.

When I first found out I was pregnant (I was only a couple of weeks in) I weighed about 145 pounds. SOLID MUSCLE.

145 pounds at 5'4" tall--the nurse told me I was nearly OBESE. All she did was weigh me, silly woman.

Here I was with a 26" waist and not a spare ounce of fat and she says that. I nearly laughed in her face. Now I weigh the same as I did before pregnancy but I'm fatter. Grrr. lol

Well, I am rambling so I will shut up. lol

Can't believe you pedatrion is being like that!

Crazy your new one will be much better! I 'm sure!

Our pedatrion usually gives us two choices of action and lets us choose. "I usually ask her what she would do"
When our dd had "jaundice" as a baby.. She did a 3 days of light therapy, her counts were low enough that they were aloud to release her, but doc. said one more night wouldn't hurt her, she's seen the levels go back up, with her blood type It's our choice. i did what she said she would do, if it was her baby.

A good pedtrion will give you choices. It will work out fine! Your new doc, probley has heard through the grape vine, what an ass your old one is.

x2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember discussing my oldest DD's diet with my doctor when she was just past 1 year old because she wouldn't eat hardly any solid foods. He told me I was allowing her to drink way too much milk and if I cut her milk back to 3 servings of 4 ounces each that I would find her appetite for other foods would pick up. I did what he said and wouldn't you know? She started eating a lot of solid foods!

I'm glad you're switching. I can't believe they were threatening you!

I cut her bottle consumption in half today without any fuss from her at all. She of course is not used to so many mini meals now to replace all those bottles but she seemed to have fun with my little snack trays and such. She enjoys variety and thats what she got today.

I was talking to my husband again tonight about how it went today and the whole bottle and weight issue. I am convinced she is just a slower grower. My mom was, I am, my husbands sisters and nieces are. Just seems to be the pattern in both families. I think now that I am taking back control and feeding her the way I know is best she will go right back to her slow and steady gain. I may actually be able to relax and enjoy a meal with her again.

I decided to just have the doctors office request the records. The new docs office has already agreed to go through her records with me. I am divorcing myself completely from the old and moving on. Some people divorce a husband I divorce an entire pediatric practice. Honestly I still think the old docs were good. I think they got a bit caught up in controlling. Too many parents questioning everything and believe it or not at one time I was uber confident that I always knew what my kids needed. Might have rubbed them the wrong way.

I have left a ped over staff. I have left a ped over his/her behavoir. I might not say anything during the visit, but I will think it over later and decide. We pay these people and if we are not happy with their service we should move on. I did it with dentists too. They are just people like us.People who went to school and good good grades and bad ones. People with personal opinions that leach into the services they provide for patients. Run from those who think their way is the only way.

I think it is good you are moving on. I would just not talk about the old office with with new one. No need for them to know anything. Also, I recommend getting a copy of your medical records.Get the new office to give you a copy of what you get from the old if you have not gotten it already. Then get a copy of previous visits during a current one.People retire and records get lost. You need your own copy.

Do what you feel is best. Doctors are there to help when issues go beyond your means.Way to many times the concerns are not *heard* and people of ALL ages die if only doctors would listen. Given that my doctor gets $10 freaking dollars a minute he better listen to me. You hire them you fire them.

I don't do vaccines, but if I did and wanted to be selective I would be beyond annoyed with the attitude you got.I would be shoving the vaccine insert in their face saying," If I want to spread them out in case any of these adverse reactions occur then you better spread them out!" Honestly though a doctor not willing to work with you will not be of much help when you do need them. They will be to busy trying to cover their butts in case anything they did resulted in harm.

My friends last baby had a fistula.Everyone told her that her baby was fine. She just felt something was not right.Eventually they found the fistula and did surgery. He would have died if she was what the doctors wanted her to be-a good little mom who agreed with everything the doctor said and just shut up.

Good luck with the new one!
