We buried the wire about a foot underground all the way around to keep out digging predators. We have coyotes and hungry hunting dogs around (especially at night when the chickens are cooped up).

A neighbor had a skunk burrow under his fencing and kill most of his hens. I didn't even know skunks would dig!!

He is very sweet. I can pick him up and he will eat out of my hand! He follows me around the yard just like the hens! He only took about a day to win over the girls (a little ruckus with each one and then it was done) and he has fit right in to the flock. I have been very pleased!
